Shed Some Light on Metabolic Bone Disease in Exotics

Got questions about ultraviolet light recommendations, calcium metabolism, or proper nutrition for exotics?

The Metabolic Bone Disease in Exotic Animals Information Center gathers information together in one place to help you understand the pathophysiology, diagnosis, and treatment of metabolic bone disease.

Review cases, images, and other resources without having to go on the hunt yourself.

Find it through the Reptile, Amphibian & Invertebrate Specialty Center in the VIN Library.

With Heavy Hearts...

Ken Harkewitz, long-time VIN Consultant in Reptile and Amphibian Medicine, passed away Thursday, August 26th. He bravely faced many medical challenges over the years and always came out smiling.

Paul talked to him Wednesday after Ken returned home following a trying 2.5 week hospitalization. He sounded upbeat and optimistic as always. Sadly the next morning Ken's lovely wife Florence called Paul to inform him Ken had passed.

Thanks for all you did for VINners and all colleagues -- we'll miss your wisdom and your humor, Ken.

Share your memories and condolences with fellow VINners. A collation of the comments posted will be shared with Ken's wife, Florence.
