CLINICAL UPDATES FROM THE JOURNALS

Evaluation of Body Weight, Body Condition, and Muscle Condition in Cats with Hyperthyroidism
Most hyperthyroid cats lose body weight, but maintain an ideal or overweight BCS, with only a third being underweight. As in human hyperthyroid patients, this weight loss is associated with muscle wasting, which affects >75% of hyperthyroid cats.

Owners' Perceptions of Their Animal's Behavioural Response to the Loss of an Animal Companion
The two most common classes of behavioural changes reported for both dogs and cats were affectionate behaviours (74% of dogs and 78% of cats) and territorial behaviours (60% of dogs and 63% of cats).

Effect of Pimobendan in Dogs with Preclinical Myxomatous Mitral Valve Disease and Cardiomegaly: The EPIC Study -- A Randomized Clinical Trial
Administration of pimobendan to dogs with MMVD and echocardiographic and radiographic evidence of cardiomegaly results in prolongation of preclinical period and is safe and well tolerated.

WE'RE ALL IN THIS TOGETHER

Has another vet helped you?
Yes!!! I've had several vets over the years help me out in a number of veterinary related situations and they have become long term friends and respected colleagues. I have had such generosity offered to my patients and my personal pets in times of need that I couldn't possibly express my gratitude. Several examples come to mind. There ARE a lot of really great, generous, compassionate people out there. Despite how it feels sometimes. I think veterinarians are the BEST!!!

DID YOU KNOW?

Thanks to the generosity of VINners, the Veterinary Forms Collection contains a variety of sample forms, clip art, and handouts. You'll find great client handouts in the Forms and Handouts section of the VIN Library.
