Course Information:
Trauma has various etiologies and lead to a wide range of injuries. Caring for those patients can prove challenging due to the complexity of their injuries and their response to resuscitative efforts. This lecture will review current knowledge and propose a step-by-step approach to patient stabilization along with initial diagnostic and therapeutic efforts.


Learning Objectives:
Upon completion of the course, the participant should be able to
  • understand the clinical importance of trauma.
  • describe the steps of stabilizing trauma patients.
  • review the clinical management of traumatized patients.
  • discuss specific clinical scenarios: polytrauma, traumatic brain injury, traumatic hemorrhagic shock.


Level and Prerequisites: This intermediate VIN CE course is open for enrollment to veterinarians actively interested in management of trauma patients.
Accreditation: This course is approved for 2 hours of continuing education credit by RACE for veterinarians. (RACE 20-914196)
