Course Information:
Organized by species, each Real Time Session will highlight the "Top 20" diseases and conditions encountered by practitioners in the U.S. and Canada. All Real Time Sessions will include multiple-choice questions similar to those that candidates will encounter on the NAVLE® . The questions will lead to a brief discussion and summary of each condition in a distilled format. We will cover NAVLE® study plans and exam strategies and provide strategies for reviewing.


Level and Prerequisites: This basic VIN CE course is geared toward senior veterinary students and veterinarians preparing for the North American Veterinary Licensing Exam (NAVLE® ). The course provides structured week-by-week instruction to help NAVLE® candidates stay on track to complete exam preparation in an efficient and effective manner.
Credit Approval: This course does not qualify for AAVSB RACE approval.


Course Agenda: Week 1 (Real Time Session September 10, 2023): Strategy for NAVLE® Preparation; Review of Public Health, Calculations, Toxicology, Epidemiology & Other Topics

Description: This session will cover strategies for taking the NAVLE®, how to best prepare for the examination. We'll cover public health concerns, drug calculations, toxicology, epidemiology, and assorted other topics.


Week 2 (Real Time Session September 17, 2023): Feline Top 20 NAVLE® Review

Description: This session will review the top 20 feline conditions/diseases.


Week 3 (Real Time Session September 24, 2023): Canine Top 20 NAVLE® Review

Week 4 (Real Time Session October 1, 2023): Pigs, Sheep, Goats, Pet Birds, and Other Small Animals NAVLE® Review

Week 7 (Real Time Session October 22, 2023): Mock Exam and Last Minute Tips

Description: For this session we will provide a practice exam and give some last minute tips for the NAVLE® exam.


Course Materials: Course materials will be available in the course library prior to each Real Time Session.

    1. VIN CE courses are open to VIN member, VIN student member, and non-member veterinarians.
    2. Veterinary support staff must be VSPN members in order to enroll in a VIN CE course open to VSPN member enrollment.
  2. VSPN CE Courses:
    1. VSPN CE courses are open to veterinary support staff and veterinarians.
    2. Only VIN and VSPN members can enroll in a VSPN CE course.
    3. Veterinarians will only receive credit for those VSPN CE courses that specify in the Accreditation statement that the course is accredited for veterinarians.
  3. Please check the course Level and Prerequisites, Accreditation, and Tuition before enrolling.
  4. Each enrollee must be able to receive emails from @vspn.org and @vin.com addresses.
