Description: As a clinician have you struggled with the management of some pruritic patients? As a specialist dermatologist, the most common problem I see in referral cases is poor infection management, and this is usually a result of a failure to actually diagnose the infections. With the missed diagnosis, treatment is inappropriate, outcomes are suboptimal, and the case gets referred. The goal of this course is to help you in your clinic tomorrow with the first part of this – better diagnosis by better cytology. A more accurate diagnosis can then lead to more appropriate therapy, and better outcomes for your patients. The focus of the course will be on accurate cytological identification of clinically relevant common skin and ear infections. While that does not sound like much initially, there is much more to this than first appears to get it right, from setting up the microscope, to knowing where and when and how to sample, as well as identification of both relevant and irrelevant findings under the microscope and assessing the significance of the findings. If you want to take your dermatology to the next level, this course is where you need to start.

Description: Access to Care may be the current catch phrase, but in reality there has always been and there is now an ever-growing need for veterinary services to be provided to underserved populations. This can be low income urban areas or isolated rural areas,and it can affect varying degrees of income levels. As clinics become more available through nonprofit and outreach work, it is important to keep in mind that low/no costclinics do not correlate with decreased quality of care. This course is designed to introduce participants to common factors that can affect decision-making, treatment options, and follow-up plans while providing high quality care to reach the desired patient outcome. Description: This course is intended to introduce the small animal clinician to the principles and practice of canine and feline gerontology (both species will be discussed, but the body of information is considerably greater for dogs, and the course will reflect that). Description: More and more, our society is mindful of the connection between people and animals including the Link: the connection between animal abuse and interpersonal violence. Because of this, it is imperative that all veterinarians and support staff be able to identify potential animal abuse and know the laws related to their roles in reporting animal abuse. But to report abuse, one must first be able to identify it and document it correctly. Additionally, it may be necessary to collect evidence in a manner that does not compromise the case. This course strives to teach each participant what the Link is, what laws may pertain to animal abuse, how to identify signs consistent with animal abuse, and how to document those signs including writing a report. The focus will be on individual small animals but will also include large-scale cases and briefly touch on large animals and exotics. Finally, there will be a brief discussion of the SARS-CoV2 pandemic and its relation to animal abuse.
