Level and Prerequisites: This basic course will be open to veterinarians actively interested in veterinary dermatology. There is no specific prerequisite experience or knowledge required for this course.

Course Information:
This course will provide an overview of the principles of atopic dermatitis for both canine and feline patients. We will be discussing old problems and new treatments, the pathophysiology, diagnosis and management of food allergy and cutaneous adverse food reactions, aspects of common skin problems and a review of new and interesting cases, including some of the latest information about dermatological therapy.

Week 1 (Real Time Session March 11, 2020): Atopic Dermatitis: 2020 Update & Food Allergies: Current Guidelines and Recommendations

Objectives: Upon completion of this session, the participant should be able to
  • briefly discuss the pathophysiology of atopic skin disease and how it may relate to treatment.
  • recognize and discuss the various treatments available for atopic dermatitis.
  • discuss the diagnosis and management of food allergies and cutaneous adverse food reactions.

Week 2 (Real Time Session March 18, 2020): VINCE’s 2020 Derm cases & Topical Therapy: What’s Old and What’s New

Objectives: Upon completion of this session, the participant should be able to
  • discuss new and interesting cases which have been presented on VIN dermatology boards.
  • Summarize the latest information about dermatology therapy.
  • Discuss different modalities and treatment options.

About the Presenter:
VIN Consultant and ACVD boarded dermatologist Mitchell D. Song received his veterinary degree from Mississippi State University and completed a residency in dermatology at the University of California, Davis. He is currently the owner of Animal Dermatology, PC in Scottsdale and Phoenix, Arizona USA.
