Evidenced-based medicine is an essential approach to provide patients with state-of-the-art care. Research in 2019 yielded significant advances in the field of emergency and critical care. This session will review important 2019 publications that will impact care for acute care patients. Week 1 (Real Time Session February 26, 2020): Year in Review

Objectives: Upon completion of this session, the participant should be able to
- Review important 2019 publications that advanced the field of veterinary emergency and critical care.
- Apply knowledge gained to improve patient care.
- Review core concepts of critical assessment of the literature.
- Provide a brief overview of currently available continuing education tools and how to leverage them.

Guillaume Hoareau is a diplomate of both the American and European Colleges of Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care. He graduated from the Toulouse National School of Veterinary Medicine (France). He completed a residency in emergency and critical care at the University of California- Davis and obtained a PhD in Translational Trauma and Critical Illness Research from the same institution. He was an Oak Ridge Institute for Science and Education Post-Doctoral Fellow in trauma and critical care research with the US Air Force. Dr Hoareau is now an Assistant Professor in Emergency Medicine at the University of Utah and balances his time between research and clinical work. Total CE Credit: 2
