Level and Prerequisites: This intermediate course will be open to veterinarians actively interested in nutrition and managing canine and feline patients with nutrition.
VIN CE Course: Open to veterinarians. This course is approved by RACE for veterinarians. (RACE 22-32086)

Course Information:
In each 2-hour class, we will discuss how to approach nutrition cases, how to do a nutritional assessment, and how to nutritionally manage canine and feline patients with different problems.

Objectives: Upon completion of this session, the participant should be able to Successful completion (scoring 80% or better) on the end-of-course test is required to earn a certificate of completion for the course. About the Presenters:
Dr. Catherine Lenox graduated from veterinary school at the University of Missouri in 2007. She then went on to complete a small animal medicine and surgery internship at Colorado State University and a small animal nutrition residency at the Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine. She was board-certified by the American College of Veterinary Nutrition in 2011. Dr. Lenox is also certified in veterinary acupuncture. After three years in specialty practice, Dr. Lenox joined Royal Canin USA in 2014. She is currently Scientific Affairs Manager at Royal Canin.

Dr. Sarah Abood received her BS degree (1984) and DVM degree (1988) from Michigan State University. After completing a one-year internship in large animal medicine and surgery at the University of Minnesota, she spent 5 years at The Ohio State University, working on a PhD and in a clinical nutrition residency with Dr. Tony Buffington. She earned her PhD from OSU in 1997; and from 1994 to 1999 she worked as a nutrition scientist in Research & Technical Communications at the Ralston Purina Company in St. Louis, Missouri. Dr. Abood served as the Assistant Dean for Student Programs and small animal clinical nutritionist at Michigan State University's College of Veterinary Medicine from 1999 to 2016. Sit, Stay Speak Nutrition, LLC is her consulting business, which was started in 2009 and expanded in 2017. Dr. Abood has co-authored several articles in peer-reviewed journals as well as several book chapters and the Manual of Veterinary Dietetics.

  1. Enrollment qualifications: VIN CE courses are open to VIN member and non-member veterinarians. Veterinarians enrolling in a VSPN CE course must be a VIN member. Veterinary support staff must be a VSPN member to enroll in a VSPN CE or a VIN CE course open to VSPN member enrollment.
  2. Each enrollee must be able to receive emails from @vspn.org and @vin.com addresses. Email is our major form of communication with participants; personal emails are highly recommended rather than clinic/hospital email addresses.
  3. Each person is individually responsible for his/her own registration. To ensure that all information received is secure and correct, please do not enroll for a course on behalf of another individual.
