Course Information:
This course will cover diagnosis and treatment of canine IMHA, emphasizing practical strategies to be employed in the private practice setting.

Learning Objectives:
Upon completion of the course, the participant should be able to
  • identify the tests needed to diagnose IMHA in dogs.
  • interpret the results of the tests used to diagnose IMHA in dogs.
  • get to a final diagnosis of IMHA in dog.
  • describe an overview of the goals of medical management of canine IMHA.
  • describe therapies for use in the acute setting for treatment of IMHA, including blood products, immunosuppressive therapy, and anti-thrombotic therapy.
  • describe the long-term management of canine IMHA, including strategies to taper immunosuppressive therapy.

Level and Prerequisites: This basic VIN CE course is open for enrollment to veterinarians actively interested in a refresher on the diagnosis of canine immune-mediated hemolytic anemia.
Accreditation: This course has been submitted (but not yet approved) for 4 hours of continuing education credit for veterinarians in jurisdictions which recognize RACE approval.
