Course Information:
This course will give the participants an opportunity to critically think about how and why anesthetic drug protocols are chosen for a particular canine or feline patient. Each session will use a mix of audio, video, and images to present various real-life clinical anesthetic case scenarios. The speaker will lead the participants through the case presenting different variables such as presentation, history, vital signs, blood work, etc. The participants will then be asked to select the best protocol for each case and what type of monitoring equipment would be ideal for each case.
- Evaluate canine and feline anesthetic candidates on presentation and history.
- Participate in selecting a proper anesthesia plan for the patient from pre-medication through post-operative care.
- Select what monitoring equipment would be ideal for each case.
- Examine and discuss techniques including CRIs, local, and epidural blocks.

Course Agenda:Week 1 (Real Time Session November 15): Canine Anesthesia Case Presentations
During this session we will discuss advanced anesthesia and analgesic techniques, monitoring and for the canine patient. We will also be discussing special considerations for geriatric patients, as well as patients with respiratory and cardiovascular disease.
Week 2 (Real Time Session November 22):
Feline Anesthesia Case Presentations
During this session we will discuss advanced anesthesia and analgesic techniques, monitoring and for the feline patient. We will also be discussing special considerations for geriatric patients, as well as patients with respiratory and/or cardiovascular disease.
Successful completion (scoring 80% or better) on the end-of-course test is required to earn a certificate of completion for the course. To learn more about the requirements for earning a CE certificate, please refer to Receiving Your CE Credit and Course Completion Certificate.
