Level and Prerequisites: This intermediate course will be open to veterinary technicians/technologists actively interested in veterinary anesthesia.
VSPN CE Course: Open to veterinary technicians/technologists. This course has been RACE approved for veterinary technicians/technologists.(22-34400)

Course Description:
This course will cover common arrhythmias and hypotension seen in anesthesia patients. We will discuss recognition, underlying causes, and recommended therapies. The second half of this course we will focus our discussion on hypotension, causes, consequences, and therapies.

Week 1 (Real Time Session December 4): Arrhythmias In the Anesthesia Patient
Objectives: Upon completion of this session, the participant should be able to Week 2 (Real Time Session December 11): Hypotension in the Anesthesia Patient
Objectives: Upon completion of this session, the participant should be able to Successful completion (scoring 80% or better) on the end-of-course test is required to earn a certificate of completion for the course.

About the Instructor:
Dianne Hudson, RVT, VTS (Anesthesia) has worked at the Oklahoma State University Veterinary Teaching Hospital since 1984. She has had a diverse career working in multiple departments including Small Animal Medicine, Equine Medicine and Surgery, Small Animal ICU as the Staff Supervisor in addition to her role as in anesthesia for the past 20 plus years. Dianne has had the pleasure of teaching ECG interpretation in a private practice setting, as a guest lecturer for Tulsa Community College, Murray State College and OSU-OKC veterinary technician programs. She has also designed an interactive computer based course covering anesthesia monitoring and ECG interpretation in addition lecturing on ECG interpretation at the Southwest Veterinary Symposium.

  1. Enrollment qualifications: VIN CE courses are open to VIN member and non-member veterinarians. Veterinarians enrolling in a VSPN CE course must be a VIN member. Veterinary support staff must be a VSPN member to enroll in a VSPN CE or a VIN CE course open to VSPN member enrollment.
  2. Each enrollee must be able to receive emails from @vspn.org and @vin.com addresses. Email is our major form of communication with participants; personal emails are highly recommended rather than clinic/hospital email addresses.
