Course Information:
Join me and learn about how rad radiology really is! In this radiography-focused course, we will discuss the rad principles of radiology and break down these tubular concepts. Hands-free techniques will also be a concentration with exploration into groovy methods for both chemical restraint and positioning. In this course, we will also take a dive into image acquisition and provide some tips for how to avoid wipeouts when acquiring radiographs.

Learning Objectives: Upon completion of this course, the participant should be able to:
  • Understand and discuss the basic principles of radiography including equipment and image storage.
  • Demonstrate how to apply proper hands-free techniques when acquiring radiographs.
  • Demonstrate how to acquire high-quality diagnostic radiographic images.
Level and Prerequisites: This intermediate VSPN CE course will be open for enrollment to veterinary technicians/technologists actively interested in the principles of radiology.

RACE Accreditation: This program has been approved for 4.5 hours of continuing education credit in jurisdictions which recognize RACE approval.(20-913316)

Course Agenda:

Week 1 (Real Time Session July 10): Principles of Radiology
This session will cover the principles of radiology, including a discussion of equipment function, use, and troubleshooting. It will also discuss PACS and image storage.

Week 2 (Real Time Session July 17): Hands-Free Radiology
This session will discuss sedation and anesthetic protocols to facilitate hands-free radiographs. It will also cover positioning tips and tricks and acquire high-quality diagnostic radiographs.

Week 3 (Real Time Session July 24): Acquiring Images
This session will explore how to acquire high-quality diagnostic radiographs. It will discuss technique chart creation and use, as well as basic image interpretation to assess for proper positioning.

Successful completion (scoring 80% or better) on the end-of-course test is required to earn a certificate of completion for the course. To learn more about the requirements for earning a CE certificate, please refer to Receiving Your CE Credit and Course Completion Certificate.
