Course Information:
Dental nerve blocks have many indications. In addition to the typical dental applications, oral nerve blocks can be used for bone and soft tissue reconstruction, mass removals, oronasal fistula and cleft palate repair, among others. This presentation provides attendees with detailed instruction (including video demonstrations) on how to perform various dental nerve blocks in dogs and cats using nerve-friendly techniques. Discussion includes maxillary, middle mental, infraorbital and mandibular nerve blocks, as well as potential complications and precautions associated with their use.
- Explain indications and contraindications for various dental nerve blocks.
- Identify anatomic landmarks for various dental nerve blocks.
- Explain various drug options.
- Pertinent pharmacology and duration of action.

Course Agenda:Week 1 (Real Time Session March 24): Dental Nerve Blocks for Technicians
During this session we will cover the anatomy, drug choice, and procedural steps of nerve blocks for dental procedures. Complications and precautions for performing nerve blocks will also be discussed.
